Some important things to know when determining the value of your gold.

There are as several qualities of gold, which are described as karat weights.

For example the most common karats are: 10kt, 12kt, 14kt, and sometimes 18kt. ( There are lower karat weights)

The higher quality pieces of gold are 22kt, and 24kt. 24kt is considered 999.9 pure

To determine the amount of pure gold we simply divide the karat weight by 24kt. (24kt is pure gold)

Example: 14k ÷ 24k = 0.583  in other words a little over half pure gold.
